Key to the child’s independence lies in the prepared environment – part 2

Toilet – one of the most precious places in your home – it presents a place where you get new ideas, have a moment of peace, and so much more.

It is very important to prepare the toilet environment for our small children – so they can use it by themselves, appreciate it and also find out how special is this place 😉

In our toilet room apart from the classical content (toilet and sink;)) we have two stairs – one for reaching the sink for washing hands and one for climbing to reach the toilet, a towel, a potty, toilet seat and two toilet books.

This toilet room offers your toddler a choice – to pee/poo on potty or on the big toilet like mommy and daddy. Potty is mostly used in the moments of rush;) Your toddler will be very proud emptying the potty independently (can bring lots of fun:P, flushing the toilet and being able to wash the hands afterwords.

It is important that the toddler’s toilet seat has its place. We have symbolically installed a shell shaped hook for the toilet seat and it has been a big hit ever since (if croatian word for toilet would be translated literally into english it would be translated as toilet shell:).

Choice of toilet books is crucial – they enable your child to enjoy more the longer periods spent there (we have Everyone poops and one soft simple book (Potty time in english and polish) depicting the toilet process and washing hands afterwards).

You should really take care of the book content for toilet training. Soon I will write more about this sensitive period and what to avoid and how to prepare yourself and your little one for it;)))
